I’ve never been a fan of musical movies or shows. So when I saw the first scene of La La Land, I was kind of disappointed. I even asked myself what in the hell I was doing there inside the cinema, watching this movie alone. Then I thought of all the high ratings it got. It must be something. So I still gave it a try.
It wasn’t anything like any other romance films. It showed us reality.
In reality, sometimes fate may really seem to be playing games with us. We meet people whose only role is to give us courage and strength to follow our dreams. They make us realize that nothing should ever stop us from doing what we are passionate about. We shouldn’t care about what other people say or think. Do what you have to. Do what you love. All the rejections and failures, these are all part of life. You fail because you try. And that isn’t a failure per se. Because you learn from it. And it’s always better to try and fail than to do nothing at all.
I think that is just what Mia and Sebastian are for each other. They are the epitome of two people changing each other’s lives for the better but who are not really meant to stay and watch you succeed. And you know they will leave a special place in your heart forever. They will leave a mark in your life. You will come to a point where you will be okay with it. You know that whatever path you both take, you will always smile at the thought of that person. The memories will both make you cry and smile. It’s the perfect scenario for the saying ‘Don’t cry because it is over. Smile because it happened.’ (But you know, you are lucky if you get to spend your lifetime with your Mia or Sebastian.)
You will forever be thankful for that person in your life. Because if not for them, you wouldn’t have been where you are right now.
Can you think of the Mia or Sebastian in your life right now? What do you feel? Does it make you smile?
However, there will still be times when you’ll think of a moment from the past, play scenarios in your head that you think would have happened if you change something from that moment. Will you be willing to go back to that time and change everything? Knowing that just a small act that you’d do differently would have caused a significant effect in what your life would have turned out to be.
